In 1969 Czech student Jan Palach set himself on fire in Prague's Wenceslas Square in protest against the Russian invasion of 1968, which became known as the Prague Spring. Prague is my favourite city; it is beautiful at any time of year and being small you don't need to spend a lot of time travelling round to see things. I've had the pleasure of working there on a number of occasions and it never failed to impress. If you haven't been it really is worth a visit. However it is grim once you get out of the city centre and is a reminder of soullessness of communism.
